We are excited to announce the merger of two local architecture firms. The new firm will conduct business as Mercer Bertsche Vernott Architects, LLC and will remain in our offices in Old Mystic, CT. This merger combines the personal expertise of Bob Mercer and Bill Bertsche in designing and renovating shoreline and historic homes in Southern New England with Chris Vernott’s expertise in contemporary design and design/build projects.

 

Our goal is to continue delivering timeless solutions for your lifestyle and applying our technical expertise to low energy and durable design solutions.

ROBERT MERCER, an Architect in the State of Connecticut, earned his BA degree in Economics at Ohio Wesleyan University and BS degree in Architecture at Ohio State University. He has been on the boards of numerous civic organizations and is a founding member of the Town of Stonington Architectural Design Review Advisory Committee.

WILLIAM BERTSCHE, an Architect and Professional Engineer in the State of Connecticut, earned his BS and MS degrees in Engineering at the Universities of Cincinnati and Wisconsin. He earned his MArch degree at MIT. He has served on the Historic District Commission for the Town of Groton. He is a LEED Accredited Professional (AP) for sustainable design.

CHRIS VERNOTT, an Architect in the State of Connecticut, earned his Masters of Architecture at Norwich University.  Chris worked at Centerbrook Architects for 8 years and then directed his own design/ build architecture practice for 6 years.  Chris has a broad background working on commercial and residential projects and has expert knowledge of energy efficient home design and construction.
